A very special squirrel with a spruce cone. Photographed in April 2024 in Northern Sweden
Squirrels sleep in a nest like structure called a drey. Roo found this old squirrel drey near the back of our house. Even though Roo had been wild for several weeks, we were still able to follow Roo.
I had been following Roo’s mum for several months during the winter. She was easy to recognize because of her amazing bright coloured fur and very long ear tufts. She is definitely the most beautiful red squirrel I’ve photographed.
